Resumen: This book provides a detailed history of Cuba from before the arrival of Columbus to 1995. Topics covered include: the Spanish colonisation, the role of Christianity, slavery, the US interventions, the Mafia connection, the Castro revolution, and Cuba's struggle to survive in the so-called 'Special Period' following the collapse of the Socialist bloc. Particular attention is given to the prolonged US efforts to overthrow the Castro regime, involving the United States in violations of international law and crimes against humanity.
